- The Association celebrated its ten-year anniversary.
- March: 10th anniversary tea party at the Lord Mayor of Westminster’s parlour, including a tour of the Past Overseer’s Collection. Presentation to Wayne Parrott of The Hand Engravers Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
- June: Awayday at David Wood-Heath’s private collection of engine turning machines.
- September: VIP tour of the Clockmakers’ Museum within the Science Museum which houses the Association’s collection of Paperweight engravings.
- September: ‘Training the Trainers’ symposium at the Goldsmiths’ Centre.
- December: The Hand Engravers Association became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
2016
- Chris Rowley gave a talk to graduates at The Goldsmiths’ Centre’s ‘Getting Started’ training initiative.
- ‘Cutting It’ symposium at the Liverpool Bluecoat Centre with resident engraver Bob Porter.
- Apprenticeship funding secured from Sir John Cass’s Foundation, National Association of Jewellers and The Friends of the Past Overseers of St Margaret’s and St John’s.
- Apprentice award to Sarah Hobbs presented by the Dean of Westminster at the Lord Mayor of Westminster’s Parlour by the Past Overseer’s of St Margaret’s and St John’s.
- The Association is invited to talk at a Hand Engraving Symposium held at the Wallace Collection Lecture Theatre.
2015
- ‘Training the Trainers’ Birmingham at the Drop Forge, Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. Presentation to Malcolm Appleby of The Hand Engravers Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
- ‘Cut in Clerkenwell’ hand engraving exhibition, demonstrations and workshops at Craft Central, London.
- ‘Training the Trainers’ London at Craft Central.
- Opening of the new Clock Museum at the Science Museum by The Princess Royal. The Hand Engravers Association’s Paperweight Collection moves to its new, permanent home within the Clock Museum
- Angus McFadyen becomes the Association’s new Chair.
2014
- Success at the Goldsmiths Craft and Design Awards with many Association members winning gold and silver awards in their categories. A large increase in hand engraving entries noted.
- ‘Scratching the Surface’, a day in the art of engraving, University of the Creative Arts Farnham, Surrey.
2012
- Wayne Parrott and George Lukes win 1st and 2nd prize respectively in the Marsh Heritage Trust Awards.
- ‘Cut in Clerkenwell’, a two-week hand engraving exhibition, demonstrations and workshops at Craft Central, London. Heritage Lottery funded and organised by Griselda Bear.
- Project with Richard Mille Watches.
2011
- The Paperweight Collection goes on display at the Pangolin Gallery, London as part of British Silver Week and at Treasure, Victoria House as part of London Jewellery Week.
- Duncan Baird-Murray becomes the Association’s new Chair.
2010
- Malcolm Appleby and his apprentice Callum Strong both win awards in the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Awards.
- ‘A Celebration of Hand Engraving’ two-day event in Birmingham. Presentation of the inaugural Hand Engravers Association Lifetime Achievement Award to Ken Hunt.
- The Hand Engravers Association’s first website launched.
2009
- The Association starts publicising its work with a series of demonstration stands at game fairs and shooting shows throughout the UK.
- The first hand engraving symposium takes place at Malcolm Appleby’s studio in Perthshire.
- The first Association awayday takes place at Chris Rowley’s home in Leigh, Kent.
2008
- The Association starts running its own hand engraving courses lead by tutors Wayne Parrott and David Bedford.
2007
- The Hand Engravers Association of Great Britain is founded by Chris Rowley. Executive Committee and Advisory Board include many high-profile industry experts.
- Chris Rowley becomes the Association’s first Director and Fund Raiser.
- Alan Craxford becomes the Association’s first Chair.
- Tiffany Browne is the Administrator.
- First exhibition held at the Goldsmiths’ Fair London.
- Awareness Days at Cass Summer Short Courses and Birmingham School of Jewellery Short Courses.
